Prehistoric Building Found in Tel Aviv

The age of the apparently permanent habitation makes it particularly significant. Archaeologist Ayelet Dayan, director of the excavation, said, “This discovery is both important and surprising to researchers of the period. The site is located on the northern bank of the Yarkon River, not far from the confluence with Nahal Ayalon. We can assume that this fact influenced the ancient settlers in choosing a place to live.”

Some of the finds at the site point to ancient tool making, such as flint sickle blades and a flint point of a hunting tool. In addition, the teeth and bones of a hippopotamus were found.
