Second Temple Model Relocated
It is now located adjacent to the Shrine of the Book on the campus of the Israel Museum. The relocation was a challenge of logistics. More than 1,000 valuable pieces traveled on a flatbed truck. The project took 66 days. The observer sees not only the Temple Mount, but the entire city of Jerusalem as it was 2,000 years ago before the Second Temple was destroyed by the Romans in AD 70.
Israel Museum Director James Snyder told The Jerusalem Post he sees that the Model in its new location near the museums will be more than just a tourist attraction, but will be elevated to the standing of a cultural artifact that intersects archaeology and history.
