Job Vacancies Hit 12-year Low

The employment balance for 2009’s Q2 remained negative and came to -10,500, meaning the number of people who either left their jobs or were fired was 10,500 higher than the number of those newly employed. Nevertheless, the figure is an improvement from the year’s first quarter, which saw a negative employment balance of -32,000.
Not all is bleak: Despite the data, overall projections for the Israeli job market were slowly improving, both because employers were no longer rushing to dismiss workers and because employees were less inclined to leave jobs. According to the data, employers dismissed 70,000 workers in Q2 of 2009 as opposed to 83,000 workers in Q1.
