Israel Allows Equipment into Gaza

Water purification materials and water pumps were included for the construction of a sewage purification facility, which is funded by the World Bank. The IDF statement said, “The [IDF Coordination and Liaison] Administration’s personnel in the Gaza area are closely following the operation of Gaza’s power station and the sewage purification facility construction project, while doing their utmost to provide real-time solutions to existing needs, in accordance with the policy of the security establishment and security assessments.”
Israel has been under international pressure to ease up the restrictions of goods permitted into the Hamas-run Gaza Strip, which was heavily damaged in Israel’s Operation Cast Lead, a conflict that came in response to Hamas rocket-fire. However, while there is disagreement over what should be let in, the Strip’s crossings are still opened on a consistent basis for essential items.
The IDF said nearly 100 aid trucks are currently let in on a daily basis. The equipment deliveries come despite flare-ups along the border. Israel and Gaza have otherwise enjoyed a relative reduction in hostilities, but no official ceasefire has been signed.
