As Operation Rising Lion Winds Down, Evin Prison and Khameini's Countdown Clock Struck

By Kate Norman ~ Bridges for Peace

Tuesday, 24 June 2025 | Israeli jets struck several key targets in Iran Monday, including what Defense Minister Israel Katz described as “regime targets and governmental repression bodies in the heart of Tehran.”

The Israeli military struck the command centers and different assets of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and internal security forces, the IDF tweeted.

They also targeted the headquarters of Basij, a paramilitary militia arm of the IRGC, which the IDF described as “one of the IRGC’s central armed bases of power; responsible for enforcing Islamic law and reporting civilian violations to regime authorities.”

The strikes also hit the Alborz Corps, which the IDF said is responsible for overseeing security and military operations in Tehran, as well as the “Thar-Allah” Command Center, which defends Tehran from security threats.

Other targets in this wave included the “Sayyed al-Shuhada” Corps, which the IDF said is responsible for homeland defense and suppressing internal unrest, as well as the General Intelligence Directorate of the Internal Security Forces, which “supervises personnel within the internal security wing and manages the monitoring and control of organizational information and media.”

These strikes killed hundreds of IRGC members, the Jerusalem Post reported, citing an unnamed Israeli official.

In another wave of strikes Monday, Israeli Air Force fighter jets targeted in Tehran regime military headquarters as well as missile production sites, missile storage infrastructure and radar systems, the Times of Israel reported, citing the military.

These strikes are part of Israel’s ongoing operation intended to cripple the regime’s military capabilities.

The Israeli strikes also hit the gate of the notorious Evin Prison in Tehran, where protesters, political prisoners, activists, journalists, foreign nationals and other enemies of the regime are imprisoned and tortured.

No prisoners were reported injured in the strike, which targeted the front gate and appears to have been intended to open the door for prisoners to escape.

Israel did not comment on its involvement in the strike on Evin Prison, which is reportedly where hundreds have been sent who were involved in recent anti-regime protests.

Also targeted in the strikes was Iran’s infamous “Destruction of Israel” countdown clock at Palestine Square in Tehran, which is counting down to 2040, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s deadline for wiping Israel off the map.

The IDF also announced Monday that it had struck routes to obstruct access to Iran’s underground Fordow enrichment site, which was bombed in a surprise American operation overnight Saturday. American B-2 stealth bombers dropped “bunker buster” Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bombs on the regime’s nuclear sites at Fordow and Natanz.

The Israeli strikes on regime targets followed an Iranian barrage of ballistic missiles, which hit across the Jewish state, including an electrical facility that was damaged, leaving some 8,000 Israelis in Israel’s scorching south without electricity for three hours.

Defense Minister Katz declared in a statement: “For every rocket fired at the Israeli home front, the Iranian dictator will be severely punished, and the strikes will continue with full intensity. We will continue to act to defend the home front and defeat the enemy until all war objectives are achieved.”

Earlier Monday, the IDF announced it struck six airports belonging to the regime in western, central and eastern Iran, destroying runways, fighter jets, refueling aircrafts and underground hangars.

“The IAF impaired takeoff capabilities from these airports,” the IDF tweeted, “as well as the Iranian military’s ability to operate its air force from them.”

Monday’s multiple waves of strikes are part of Israel’s ongoing Operation Rising Lion intended to destroy Iran’s nuclear program and thwart the regime’s military ability to attack the Jewish state.
