Thursday, 19 May 2022 | Israel sent 2,000 helmets and 500 protective vests to Ukraine on Wednesday to assist emergency and civilian organizations in the war-torn country.
The Israeli Defense Ministry said in a statement that in accordance with a directive from Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz, the ministry’s Department for Defense Production and Procurement had facilitated the aerial transfer of the equipment from Ben-Gurion International Airport.
The shipment, the first batch of helmets and vests Israel will send to Ukraine, was announced on April 20.
Gantz’s office said at the time that it was “part of Israel’s extensive effort to provide humanitarian aid, which includes the establishment of a field hospital, the absorption of refugees and immigrants, the provision of food and medical assistance, and more.”
