Wednesday, 1 February 2023 | During the past year, Israel’s cyber defense authorities repelled more than 1,000 attempted attacks that collectively had the potential to cripple the country’s economy, according to the Jewish state’s cybersecurity czar.

At the Cybertech 2023 conference, Director General of the Israel National Cyber Directorate Gaby Portnoy gave a briefing on Israel’s cyber activities and explained how they have become an integral part of protecting the country from external threats, particularly those emanating from Iran, i24NEWS reported.

“As in the worlds of counterterrorism and spy games, the general public is mostly unaware of the attacks that have been stopped. Our job is to prevent those attacks that, if successful, would result in millions of damage to the economy and the country,” Portnoy said.

In December, Israel participated in the inaugural Arab International Cybersecurity Exhibition and Conference in Manama, Bahrain.
