Wednesday, 15 January 2020 | The Iranian regime has elevated the art of threatening revenge to a whole new level—turning to over-the-top dramatic cinema.
A propaganda video is circulating the Internet that depicts the violent deaths of US President Donald Trump, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in an Iranian guerrilla raid on the White House in Washington DC.
The video, with a style reminiscent of 1970s Iran, opens with a group of Persian operatives getting a phone call notifying them of the death of Iran’s top general, Qassam Soleimani, in a US strike. Immediately the men get to work in planning to avenge his death.
“We’re looking for the big fish,” one of the men says as the camera pans over a chart of potential targets, with Trump at the head, including Netanyahu, Pompeo and Saudi Arabian Prince Mohammad Bin Salman. “We have to strike them at the head.”
Fuzzy Argo-style footage of the White House and other famous landmarks indicates a jump to Washington DC as the group of men, brandishing rifles and other weapons, move in for the kill. A shot shows the Capitol Building exploding before the men begin firing their rifles and machine guns to infiltrate the White House, where they throw grenades and stain the White House red with blood.
The video ends in gratuitous gore, including Secretary Pompeo lying in a pool of his own blood and Trump’s lifeless body, face dripping blood and fire burning nearby. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s bloody corpse flashes across the screen just before the movie cuts out.
“But, a hard revenge awaits the criminals whose evil hands are drenched in his [Soleimani’s] blood,” Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameini’s voice declares in the background.
The revenge fantasy video was first published by Iranian Fars News on Friday. While it will most likely be snubbed by the Oscars, the video highlights the Islamic regime’s fledgling desperation to save face during the recent flare-up with the United States.
The Iranian leadership was enraged when the US, in the wee hours of January 3, conducted a drone strike outside the Baghdad airport, firing four US Hellfire missiles at the regime’s top general. Qassam Soleimani had just landed in Iraq after a flight from Damascus and was meeting with an Iraqi militant leader, who was also killed in the strike.
The head of the snake, Supreme Leader Khameini, vowed revenge as he wept over the death of his right-hand man on national television earlier this month.
“Allah the almighty has promised to get his revenge, and Allah is the main avenger,” Khameini declared. “Certainly actions will be taken.”
“We promise to continue down martyr Soleimani’s path as firmly as before with help of Allah, and in return for his martyrdom we aim to get rid of America from the region,” he added.
The resulting back-and-forth firing of words and a few rockets between Washington and Tehran supposedly came to a tentative end last week when Trump declared “All is well!” when an Iranian missiles strike on two American military bases in Iraq ended in no US casualties. Friday’s slasher film, however, indicates that the Islamic Republic still harbors some hard feelings for Trump.
This isn’t the first Tarantinoesque short film by Iran’s propaganda team. Just days after Soleimani’s death, Fars published another video depicting Trump’s violent assassination as a Persian sniper ogles a picture of Soleimani then shoots Trump on stage during a rally speech. The video begins with the words, “Hey US, If you begin the war, we will end the war,” and ends with, “in the name of [Allah], the beneficent, the merciful.”
