Wednesday, 4 August 2021 | Three rockets were fired from Lebanon toward Israel after noon today, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported, prompting rocket alert sirens to sound in area surrounding Kiryat Shmona, near the border with Lebanon.

Two rockets landed in Israel, the military reported on Twitter, and one failed to clear the border and landed in Lebanon.

“In response, our artillery forces fired into Lebanon,” the IDF announced.

No injuries have been reported in Israel, meaning the rockets landed in open area, causing no damage.

Footage taken after one of the rockets impacted shows smoke and fire billowing on a hillside near what appear to be commercial buildings, but the rocket does not appear to directly have hit anything.

Magen David Adom, Israel’s ambulance service, said on Twitter that four Israelis are being treated for stress symptoms.

Israel takes any and all cross-border attacks seriously, whether they hit their mark and cause damage or not. The military announced an hour after the first round of responsive strikes that artillery forces were striking “targets along the Lebanese border.”

The culprit behind the rocket launch has not been confirmed, but Hebrew media has speculated that it is Palestinian terrorists operating from behind the Lebanese border and not Hezbollah terrorists.
