Give Them Something to Eat

April 1, 2016
Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Thousands had gathered to hear from Yeshua (Jesus). All day they had soaked in His teaching. It was now evening and they had nothing to eat. The disciples brought the issue to Yeshua and His response was, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat” (Matt. 14:16). Of course what follows is one of the greatest miracles! Yeshua multiplied five loaves of bread and two fish to feed 5,000 men plus women and children.WEB DWilliams_Kevin Loading Pallets_7924

This passage is resonating in my heart today, because a multitude of hungry people are knocking on the doors of Bridges for Peace each month. Currently we are providing food to over 26,000 people. We don’t want to send any of them away hungry. But, if there is not a miracle of supply or multiplication, we will have to reduce the number of people we help each month, by 1,160 families (nearly 5,000 people).

Sadly, donations to our Food Project decreased in 2015. Then, a major funding organization which has given generously for food for many years, has had to stop supporting the program.

We’re Asking for a Miracle of Multiplication

WEB DWilliams_Elderly Woman_P6766So, we are bringing the problem to the Lord and asking for a miracle of multiplication. We are asking Him to speak to the hearts of Christians everywhere to help feed the Jewish people as they come home to Israel as foretold in the Scriptures. We are praying that those who already give to food projects will be inspired to give more. We are asking the Lord to help us to get better prices on food, allowing our funds to go further. We are believing for multiplication.

In order to continue giving to those we currently assist, we need an increase in giving of $240,000 in 2016. That means an additional $20,000 per month given to the Food Project.

Psalm 72:12–13 says, “For He will deliver the needy when he cries, the poor also, and him who has no helper. He will spare the poor and needy and will save the souls of the needy.”

God has called Bridges for Peace to be His helpers in fulfilling this Scripture. He has helped us to obtain trucks, warehouses, staff, contacts and favor in Israel. We are able to do much more with these facilities and the current staff if we just have a multiplication of funds.

Recently we received a note from one family we help.WEB DWilliams_Pomegranates_P9152

“My name is Ishack, father of eleven (11) children and was born in Morocco. My wife was born in Israel and her parents came from Tripoli. I met my wife in Jerusalem and we got married there in 2000. We moved shortly after to the south, because I received a teaching position in a small town, Yeruham.

Our financial situation is not easy. My wife is ill and not able to work. I am a teacher and support my family alone. It is very difficult for me to feed 11 children with my salary and to fulfill all their requirements, even if they are small.

“I am thankful for you, Christians at Bridges for Peace, and the fact that I have a job in Israel. You are the reason that I could manage to survive for all these years. I am so excited to write my story and to finally have the opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for helping me and the continued support I receive from you: It is not only the monthly groceries that you faithfully delivered to us here in Dimona, but we also received a heater, school supplies—so many things to mention!

“This week I received a warm blanket from you and it makes me so excited to know that there are good people in life who are helping so much. The blanket put a big smile on one of my boy’s lips. For regular people it is just a blanket, for me it is something big and very warm. Thank you very much, may you always be here for us, we the needy families.

“I send to you, a big thank-you and a hug if I could, with all my heart to you, lovers of Israel.”

They Don’t Need to Go Away Hungry

I hear the words of Yeshua echoing over the centuries, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” I don’t want to send a single family like Ishack’s away. How can we even think about sending nearly 5,000 such people away?

WEB DWilliams_Food delivery_P6940We are the Lord’s called ones, the ones He is using to show love to the people of Israel. I believe He is calling out to His Church today, “You give them something to eat!”

In January, 1,213 Christians gave to our food projects. If each one could add $20 to their monthly gift, we would reach the level needed to continue to feed 26,000 per month. Perhaps some of you who give to our other projects would consider increasing your gift by an additional $20 to our Food Project. Any size gift will help.

Please pray about how God wants to use you to feed the people of Israel: children, elderly, Holocaust survivors, new immigrants, and Arab–Christians. Let’s be part of His miracle of multiplication.
